random thoughts

It has come to my attention that attention spans are short. This is not news. What may be news is what I think it signifies. In the past decade or so we have been inundated with technology. As a result most of us make a concerted effort to "keep up." The difference between the average person today, and the average person one hundred years ago is nearly incomparable. One hundred years ago a citizens activity may have involved going to the Court House, the library, the post office, a school, a place of employment, the city Newspaper, or possibly church. Todays average citizen does all of this plus about a dozen more, in the space of an hour. With all of the devises we interact with, we have to limit our attention span so that we can "break off" and divrt our attentions elsewhere. We all do it. While I write this, I am also thinking about my final essay in English. I am having difficulty because I chose compare and contrast. Some of the statistics I found deal with whole numbers while others use percentages. I am not in algebra, I do not want to have to make calculations. The point is this; We are "Short Attention Span Theater." Our active lives are usually in 2 - 20 minute spurts. We have trained ourselves to function in the world we live in. And it is a good thing, as long as we do not forget to relax once in a while.

More stuff?

Wow, when I entered school, I knew that being online would give me an overwhelming amount of work to do. But I have stuck to my guns and have been able to keep my grades up. Now enter the people in my life who also appreciate my abilities. They suggest I start writing "articles" and "blogs." I may even get paid, they said. "Well sure, why not?" says I, fool that I am.
Now I get to fill my "extra" time,(hahahaha). Yes, I get to learn about SEO's and search engine back links. I get to dabble in directories and the like, making sure I have clean, unbroken links. So I say, "Aw man, I have no idea what's goin' on." Any help out there?
